Guy Axelson


Guy is married to Mary Jane, and they have three boys, Charlie, Jago and Benjamin. Guy grew up in Cape Town, where he studied accountancy and finance, before before marrying Mary Jane and moving to the UK. His path to curacy included working in procurement for the NHS in Cambridge, a housing charity in Oxford and studying at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford. Guy and Mary Jane are fond of taking the boys for walks in the countryside, camping in beautiful places and running.

Sylvia Kalisch

Finance Secretary

Sylvia joined St Michael’s in 2002 and has since been putting German efficiency to good use in all aspects of being a part of the church family. At the end of 2013 she decided to do things properly and joined the staff as Finance Secretary where her greatest joy is claiming money back from the government through gift aid claims. Apart from an incurable love for spreadsheets, Sylvia is a confirmed knit-aholic and also enjoys the adrenaline rush of cycling in London.

Juliet Fellows

Director of Children's Ministry

Juliet attended St.Michael’s Church with her five children when they were growing up and ran The Ark as a volunteer. She is now delighted to be the part-time Children’s Worker and really enjoys getting to know all the children, mothers and carers who come to The Ark and the many families who attend Children’s Church on a Sunday. Originally trained as a nurse, she loves helping new mothers, cycling around London, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Gemma Scharnowski

Operations Manager

Gemma has lived in and around London since 2009, but is originally from sunny, sunny, Bournemouth. She also joined St Michael’s in 2014, after graduating in Theology, Music & Worship at London School of Theology, where she met her husband Timo. She is a musician and visual artist, and a big fan of all things Christmas-related.

Bolor Tsedev

Assistant to Director of Children's Ministry

Bolor is originally from Mongolia where she studied Zoology at the Mongolian National University. She came to London in 2007 and joined St Michael’s in 2014, delighted to find a church that offered so much to both her and her lively young daughter. She was thrilled to join the team, assisting Juliet in children’s ministry as she has a great heart for young people. In the little spare time available to a busy mum, Bolor enjoys sharing Mongolian food with friends and exploring London.

Lucy Egbuta

Events and Communications Manager

Prior to joining St Michael’s, Lucy completed an MSc in International Relations at University of Aberdeen and worked for various development projects in Nicaragua. She is passionate about human rights advocacy and enjoys reading foreign policy books. In her spare time, she enjoys walking, travelling and good coffee.

Philip Thang

Ministry Trainee

Philip is a ministry trainee from Myanmar (Burma). He came to the UK to equip and train himself for his calling-to be a preacher and teacher of the Word. He loves cycling around London, watching English Premier League and playing football. His vision is to help and equip young ministers in his country who are called to deliver the Word and to provide a training center for them where they can study and prepare themselves thoroughly for their calling.

Mark Underwood

Director of Music

Mark joined us in 2018 having previously led the classical music department of a large central London church. Despite his classical background,
he is passionate about combining different styles of music in worship. He assists with music on our Alpha Courses and other midweek events.

Gary Smith


Gary joined the team in October 2018. He is responsible for all general caretaking of the church building, and the smooth running of church
services and external event bookings.

Daniel Brooks

Worship Leader

Daniel studied Theology, Music and Worship at London School of Theology, where he met his wife, Hannah. They both lived in Germany for a year and a half, before returning to London. Daniel is a fan of Tolkien and good coffee. His passion is to see the Holy Spirit move in people’s lives during sung worship.
