Vicar Appointment News

We are delighted to announce that Rev. Rupert Charkham has been appointed as our next Vicar. 

Rupert,  who was the unanimous choice of the selection panel, is currently Vicar of Holy Trinity Church in Cambridge and Chaplain to the Queen.  Prior to Cambridge he was Rector of St. Paul’s in Salisbury, and previously worked in churches in Oxford and London. Rupert is married to Liz and they have two adult children.  

Rupert’s licensing by the Bishop of London will take place at St. Michael’s on Wednesday 20th May in the evening.

Events & Bookings Administrator

St Michael’s Chester Square is looking for an organised and enthusiastic individual to join their dynamic office team as Events & Bookings Administrator. The Events & Bookings Administrator will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of daily church life particularly in the church office. He or she will be a core part of the office team, ensuring that the church diary is up to date, coordinating and overseeing internal and external events, and ensuring all related administrative tasks are well managed and completed in good time.

The successful candidate will be a hardworking and efficient administrator with a particular eye for detail and the ability to stay calm under pressure. S/he will be computer literate and well-versed in using Microsoft Office, with experience in Social Media and Website Management. Desirable skills include adaptability to new challenges and experience in events management.

Temporary to permanent (six-month probationary period):

37.5 hours a week (part-time considered) Salary: £21,000 – £25,000 FTE depending on experience

Administrative Assistant

St Michael’s Chester Square is looking for an organised and efficient individual to join their vibrant office team as an Administrative Assistant.

The Administrative Assistant will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of daily church life in the church office. He or she will work with the Office Team to ensure that all administrative tasks are well managed and completed in good time, and that incoming enquiries and bookings are dealt with promptly. Key responsibilities will include: dealing with enquiries; keeping the church diary and filing systems up to date; helping to manage internal church events; printing and distribution of publicity materials; monitoring stock levels and arranging deliveries.

The successful candidate will be a hardworking and resourceful administrator with the capacity to take initiative on tasks unprompted. S/he will be computer literate and well-versed in using Microsoft Office and other similar software. Desirable skills include experience in Social Media and Website Management.

Temporary to permanent (six-month probationary period)

37.5 hours a week (part-time considered)

Salary: £21,000 – £25,000 FTE depending on experience
